Postdoctoral Position : Covid-19 Diagnostics Using A Portable Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor For Rapid Clinical Implementation

Development and use of portable SPR system with adapted surface chemistry for Covid-19 sensing

Worldwide, infections and death from SAR-CoV-2 has imitated research in different areas. One efficient manner to limit COVID-19 spreading and an adequate means of better managing the COVID-19 outbreak is through unrestrained availability of fast, efficient, accurate and cost-effective point-of-care testing (POCT) device.

In this project, a novel POCT device will be assembled and teste. The concept is based a set of novel and innovative solution  currently under patent applications but used on this work. The aim is an assay time of 30 min and performance validation in a clinical setting. This will be followed by manufacturing quality. The project has a strong industrial bias, but is used on the development of novel sensing concepts.
Candidates should be highly motivated to work at the interface between viral sensing and material science  with a strong background in surface plasmon resonance and planar surfaces techniques related to biological applications Fluency in English is mandatory. Training for working with virus samples and under clinical conditions will be provided.  He/She will be part of a multinational team from Ireland, Belgium and Israel.


The funding is for 1 year provided by University of Lille, starting 01 December 2020. The work will be carried out at Institut d'Electronique, de Microélectronique et de Nanotechnologie (IEMN), UMR CNRS 8520, - 59652 Villeneuve d'Ascq, France
