Ecole Nanocrystals in Interaction with their Environment - Alsace 2019
Les nanocristaux en interaction avec leur environnement représentent une thématique de recherche extrêmement active et en constante évolution.
Ce domaine interdisciplinaire de la science des matériaux situé à l’interface de la physique et de la chimie est stimulé notamment par :
– de nouvelles méthodes de synthèse tant par voie physique (épitaxie, implantation ionique, atomic layer deposition …) que par voie chimique (chimie douce, microonde, échange moléculaire, CVD) et d’auto-organisation,
– de nouvelles propriétés physiques couvrant notamment le magnétisme (magnétisme de surface), l’optique (nouvelles gammes de fréquence, absence de clignotement …), la plasmonique (couplage fort…) ou encore les dispositifs quantiques (transport à un électron, source de photon unique).
– des méthodes de caractérisation (TEM, EELS, STEM, tomographie, sonde atomique tomographique, XRD, XPS, GISAXS, fluorescence …) qui évoluent constamment avec le développement de nouvelles structures nanométriques et/ou hybrides (sensibilité et détectabilité chimique, caractérisation non invasive…).
Les thèmes majeurs suivants seront abordés sous la forme de cours et de travaux pratiques, dispensés en anglais:

The thematic school "Nanocrystals in interaction with their Environment" ("ALSACE 2019") will take place from 24 to 28 June 2019 in Mittelwihr (Haut Rhin, Grand Est Region, France):
This school covers optical/electrical/magnetic properties, methods of growth and organization (physical and chemical routes), and experimental techniques for investigating nanocrystals in interaction with their environment.
The following major topics will be addressed in the form of lectures and practical works, given in English:

Growth and self-ordering of nanocrystals
Multifunctional and Hybrid Nanomaterials
Experimental techniques to investigate nanomaterials interacting with their environment
Thanks to the funds raised from our sponsors, the school is free of charge (no registration fees, no accommodation and food costs, which are totally covered by the school) for doctoral students belonging to a research laboratory affiliated to the CNRS, and for CNRS employees (within the limits of available places).
